Cellar Note: 2000 Sarget de Gruaud-Larose

I should start by saying that I had this wine a few months ago at a Bordeaux tasting and was rather impressed. This bottle, unfortunately, did not live up to my expectations. The wine was garnet colored in the glass. There were aromas of plum, fig, peppercorn and forest floor. On the palate, I found dried black fruits, cocoa and tea. The tannins are still at the forefront, making the wine stiff and out of balance. A disappointing showing for this second wine of a St. Julien Second Growth chateau. Indifferent
